See Vatnajokull

More visitor walking in Lakagigar. The craters form steep cones covered in moss, with the black lava peeking through here and there. They erupted massively in 1783 - the lava was the third largest to flow on Earth since the Ice Age – and huge numbers of people and livestock were killed. Once and inferno, today the place is quiet.
